CAD Drafter/Designer – Water Resources Engineering

Location: Santa Clara, CA

Schaaf & Wheeler is looking for a highly proficient CAD Drafter/Designer to develop design and construction drawings.

This position involves the extensive use of AutoCAD Civil 3D, drafting systems, GIS systems and client standards to prepare drawings and revise/update existing drawings for a variety of water resources engineering projects. Drawings include maps, construction documents, figures and other graphics used in a variety of products, including construction documents and reports.

Job Requirements:

  • Certificate or Associate’s degree from an accredited college/university or completion of technical trade school courses, or equivalent experience
  • Certification as an AutoCAD Civil 3D Professional or equivalent preferred
  • 2+ years’ of recent intermediate-to-advanced level professional experience using AutoCAD Civil 3D, AutoCAD, and other drafting software to develop detailed designs for complex civil engineering projects is essential. Civil 3D experience is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to interpret and develop detailed drawings from sketches and mark-ups provided by engineers
  • Ability to complete basic calculations related to engineering drawings including areas, lengths, distances, line and curve tables, elevations, datum conversions, coordinate systems, slopes, grades, and volumes is mandatory.
  • Familiarity with GIS systems is preferred and a plus.
  • Proficiency with MS Office
  • The ability to communicate effectively (both verbally and in writing) with clients and project team members.

Civil Engineer, Junior – Water Resources Engineering

Location: San Francisco OR Santa Clara, CA

If you're a bright and talented civil engineering graduate, we'd love to hear from you as we're currently seeking an engineering professional to assist with hydrologic and hydraulic analyses and with stormwater, water and wastewater infrastructure projects.

We're involved in a vast array of projects, including the analysis and design of water systems and/or components including computer modeling, design of pump stations, storm drain hydraulics, sewer hydraulics, flood control hydrology and hydraulics, cost estimating, preparation of bid packages, permitting assistance, AutoCAD drafting, field surveying, and report writing.

Job Requirements:

  • A minimum of a BS in Civil Engineering and 0-2 years of relevant experience
  • An advanced degree is a plus
  • EIT (FE) certificate required
  • The ability to communicate effectively (both verbally and in writing) with clients and project team members
  • Proficiency with MS Office
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and ArcGIS is highly preferred
  • Experience with hydraulic and hydrologic modeling software is desirable
  • Previous civil engineering work experience including internships is preferred
  • Participation in engineering related extracurricular activities is desirable

Assistant or Associate Civil Engineer – Water Resources Engineering

Location: San Francisco OR Santa Clara, CA

Schaaf & Wheeler is looking for a highly motivated civil engineer to assist with flood control, stormwater, water and wastewater infrastructure projects.

Typical projects include: analysis and design of water systems and/or components including computer modeling, design of pump stations, storm drain hydraulics, sewer hydraulics, flood control hydrology and hydraulics, cost estimating, preparation of bid packages, permitting assistance, AutoCAD drafting, field work, and report writing.

The assistant/associate engineer will work with a senior level engineer and potentially manage smaller projects on their own. They will also work with our other offices.

Job Requirements:

  • A minimum of a BS in Civil Engineering and 2-6 years of experience designing water resource related infrastructure and performing hydrologic and hydraulic analyses.
  • An advanced degree is a plus
  • EIT (FE) certificate is required
  • A Professional Engineering license is required for the associate engineer position.
  • The ability to communicate effectively (both verbally and in writing) with clients and project team members.
  • Experience with modeling software including: HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, Infoworks ICM, InfoSWMM, InfoWater, MikeUrban, SWMM, BAHM, MIKE-21
  • Proficiency with MS Office
  • Intermediate level AutoCAD experience is highly preferred
  • Proficiency with ArcGIS is highly preferred
