Associate or Senior Civil Engineer – Water Resources Engineering

Location: Santa Clara, San Francisco, Santa Rosa, Salinas, CA

Schaaf & Wheeler is looking for a highly motivated civil engineer to assist with hydrologic and hydraulic analyses and with water and wastewater infrastructure projects.

Typical projects include: analysis and design of water systems and/or components including computer modeling, design of pump stations, storm drain hydraulics, sewer hydraulics, flood control hydrology and hydraulics, cost estimating, preparation of bid packages, permitting assistance, AutoCAD drafting, field surveying, and report writing.

Job Requirements:

  • A minimum of a BS in Civil Engineering and 3-6 years of experience designing water resource related infrastructure and performing hydrologic and hydraulic analyses.
  • An advanced degree is a plus
  • A Professional Engineering license is required.
  • The ability to communicate effectively (both verbally and in writing) with clients and project team members.
  • Proficiency with MS Office
  • Recent intermediate level AutoCAD experience is required
  • Proficiency with ArcGIS is highly preferred

Ideally, the associate or senior engineer will work with a senior engineer and then manage smaller projects on his or her own. He or she will also work with our other offices.

GIS Analyst

Location: San Francisco or Santa Clara, CA

Schaaf & Wheeler is looking for a highly motivated GIS Analyst to assist on various water resources engineering projects. The analyst will create, modify and analyze geodata of utility pipe lines, channels, watersheds, soil characteristics, land uses, floodplains, survey data, LiDAR data and other hydrography.

Typical project tasks include: preparing geographic data for analysis of flood control, stormwater, wastewater and water systems; spatial analyses of datasets; cartography for report and presentation figures; and management of geodatabases (vector and raster).

Job Requirements:

  • A minimum of an associate’s or bachelor’s degree and 1-5 years of GIS experience, preferably related to engineering and/or infrastructure.
  • A science or engineering degree is a plus.
  • The ability to communicate effectively (both verbally and in writing) with clients and project team members.
  • Proficiency with ArcGIS is required. Experience with Spatial Analyst and 3D Analyst a plus.
  • Proficiency with MS Office, particularly Excel and Access is required.
  • Experience with AutoCAD or Adobe Creative Suite desirable.
  • Experience with geodata management desirable.
  • Experience with Python, SQL, JavaScript, C++, Visual Basic and Java desirable.

Ideally, the analyst will work with several engineers and manage numerous geodatabases. He or she will also work with all offices.

Wage: $50,000-$70,000 DOE
